The World Amateur Golfers Championship is the world's most prestigious and largest amateur golf tournament, and certainly the only one its kind globally.

The world final was held in Durban, South Africa, from the 22 - 29 October 2016. The professionalism around this event started from the moment we landed and continued throughout the whole week. A walking dinner with traditional live music gathered all participants together for first time after arrival.

The welcome gala dinner on the second evening included an Olympic type flag ceremony and was a truly unique experience, creating a fantastic synergy of people and cultures, united around golf. Teams were represented from over 40 countries.

We enjoyed an intensive week living like a golf tour professional, including two practice rounds and four competition rounds of golf. The courses included Victoria Country Club, Kloof Country Club (Durban), Beachwood and Durban Country Club, home of the Volvo World Golf Championship in 2013. Privately we visited Zimbali Golf Club, one of the best combinations of golf course design and wild live around Durban.

The enthusiasm and friendship within team Netherlands was outstanding, all perfectly organized with the highest level of attention to detail and passion by Winston Cheng and Jose Diaz.

The closing gala dinner, speeches, live music and price giving ceremony was a perfect finish to this exceptional week. The team event in this 22nd edition was won by Singapore.

The World Amateur Golfers Championship is a once-in-a-lifetime “must attend” event for each amateur golfer in the Benelux. We sincerely thank World Golfers Netherlands and the team members 2016 from this unforgettable golf experience!

The 28^th World Amateur Golfers Championship World Final will be played from 4 - 11 November 2023 in Phuket, Thailand.

Numerous qualifier events will be organised in the Benelux in the next months who give the tournament (category) winners access to the Benelux final.

During the Benelux final, different handicap category winners will be awarded their spot in the team for the World Final 2023 in Phuket.
